AIDSWALK+RIDE 2008, May 3 Raleigh, NC, USA
I received the following announcement from AIDSWalk+Ride concerning their 2008 event in Raleigh, NC. Please join them in their efforts. Proceeds go to the Alliance of AIDS Services-Carolina and to 10 other AIDS organizations throughout the Triangle Area of NC.
The Alliance of AIDS Services-Carolina is pleased to announce AIDSWALK+RIDE 2008 on Saturday, May 3, 2008. Since 1995, thousands of walkers and riders have helped support programs and services for persons living with HIV/AIDS in our region by participating in AIDSWALK+RIDE. All monies raised support the Alliance and 10 other AIDS organizations throughout the Triangle. Last year, AIDSWALK+RIDE broke all records, raising nearly $200,000 for persons living with HIV/AIDS. We'd like to top that figure in 2008, and we need your help to do it.
AIDSWALK+RIDE provides participants the choice of either riding or walking. The walk will offer a choice of one- and three-mile courses in downtown Raleigh. The bicycle ride will feature 101.5, 60, and 30 mile routes that follow a challenging course across the rolling hills of Wake, Durham, and Orange counties. Both teams and individual riders are welcome. Exciting and creative rest stops along the WALK and RIDE routes offer water, snacks, port-a-johns, and the encouragement of our rabid supporters and volunteers. Walk registration is free. We encourage walkers to raise a minimum of $100. Ride registration is $45. Riders are encouraged to raise a minimum of $150. Event headquarters (and the start of the Ride and Walk) will be at the Halifax Mall in downtown Raleigh. The Halifax Mall is the grassy area between Salisbury and Wilmington Streets in downtown Raleigh, north of the State Legislature and south of the Archdale Building. Registration for walkers and riders is available at AIDSWalk+Ride.org.
Want to volunteer for AIDSWALK+RIDE 2008? We need dozens of volunteers to make sure this event goes off smoothly. Please contact our volunteer coordinator, Camille Koonce, at 919-596-9898 x18 if you or your organization is interested in volunteering.
The Alliance remembers those lost to HIV/AIDS, those living and those we must protect. And the Alliance thanks you for remembering, too.
