Springtime Photos from Mom's Yard
(Left: First blooms on a year-old Eastern Redbud tree. Click on any image to enlarge it.)
(Left: In the center, you can see the white and yellow blooms on this bush honeysuckle. My dad called this plant by its common name: "First Breath of Spring." These flowering shrubs bloom in late winter when the temperatures first reach 50º F and carry a beautiful, sweet honeysuckle scent.)
(Left: Goose (a.k.a. Gustav) walks out from behind a blooming lorapetalum shrub. Click on the photo to enlarge it and to see the detail of these delicate flowers.)
(Left: "Johnny-Jump-Ups" (viola cornuta) have mixed with another flowering weed of unknown name.)
(Left: Tenacious for life, these "johnny-jump-ups" have sprouted and bloomed in the crack between my mom's patio and her house. An even more tenacious weed, oxalis, grows to the left of the blooming violas.)
