Amazing Sunset

This sunset, viewed from the backyard of my mom's home in Ogden, North Carolina, morphed from one color to another over the period of ten minutes. The mixture of whites, grays and blues in the sky is in direct contrast to the bright yellows and oranges of the sun and the deep blacks of the silhouettes of the trees and houses.

Would you call this a popcorn sky?

An amazing sunset in Wilmington, NC in early January, 2006 provides a backdrop for the silhouette of a loblolly pine.

I often think when I see these kind of clouds that if I painted them realistically, people would still think that they were imaginary. The beauty of loblolly pines are often taken for granted here in North Carolina.
