Off the Map
I found a beautiful art film this week through Netflix. Off the Map is a story of a gifted and frustrated young girl living with her quirky family in the desert of New Mexico in the 1970s. Directed by Campbell Scott, the film stars Joan Allen, Sam Elliot, Valentina de Angelis, J.K. Simmons, Jim True-Frost, and Amy Brennerman.
This film touched me through its theme of how we can veer from our path into unexpected passions and find truth in the journey. The film incorporates visual art and displays the means by which one can find the spark for creativity while others around us are stifled. Filled with a touching respect for nature, for art, for love and friendship, this is a film that I highly recommend.
