International Carnival of Pozitivities--Call for Submissions
Dear Jesus, make me simple
The strongest trees to sway.
Venus Hum, Wordless May, lyrics by Annette Strean
I am writing to ask you to consider participating in the International Carnival of Pozitivities, the blog carnival that I founded for people living with HIV/AIDS, their families, friends, caregivers and allies around the world. As long as any one of us is living with HIV, we are all living with AIDS. The next edition, the sixth monthly installment, will be hosted here at 2sides2ron. Some of you have already given me permission to access any articles on your blog that I would like to include, and I am thankful for that. However, I am also hoping that you can post a note on your blog to urge other bloggers you know to send in submissions as well. The deadline for submissions is 2 December 2006 for the World AIDS Day/December edition.
World AIDS Day, December 1, is a time to reflect on the journey we have taken to get through the first 25 years of AIDS. It is also a time to reflect on how far we have yet to go. It is a perfect time to write a blog entry to remember our friends and loved-ones who have passed on. It is a perfect time to recount the history of this illness in the West for those who have only become acquainted with it since the onset of newer drugs. It is a perfect time to tell the true stories of HIV/AIDS in the rest of the world rather than passing those stories through mainstream media. It is a perfect time to share your voices with the world. It is a perfect time to break your silence and share your love, your grief, your hope, your support, your dreams. If you have never blogged about HIV/AIDS, this is a very good time to do so.
If you can write something new or share one of your older posts about HIV/AIDS, please visit the homepage of the ICP to read the details of the project. You can submit your work by clicking the submission button there, or you can simply send the permalink for your entry to me via email and I will handle the logging in of the article for you. Feel free to email this entry to your friends as well.
If you do not have a blog and would like to submit an article of inspiration, concern, aspiration, or hope for a cure, or if you wish to honor someone you have loved and lost or to recognize the contributions of someone in the fight...I will gladly give you space on my own blog for your words and a brief biography. You can blog anonymously if you feel you need to do so, however, your greatest strength will be shown in fighting the stigma of this disease. By speaking with a true, open, genuine and simple voice, you can "sway the biggest trees."
I hope this past month as been good to you all.
Much love and Safe Journeys to all...
