Ode to a Shaved Muffin

ODE TO A SHAVED MUFFIN

I like my new muffin
with its five o'clock shadow,
reminding me of toughing out
surgery three weeks ago.

Of course they only shaved
half of my mound of Venus,
if you can have one of those
when you also have a penis.

The scar on one side
where the node used to be
reminds of lymphoma
and the fear of possibility.

Now it wears with benign pride
distinct on one side,
under stubble.

I like my new muffin.
