Guest Artist: Farid de la Ossa's "Awareness Due HIV"

Please welcome back guest artist Farid de la Ossa who has contributed artwork to the International Carnival of Pozitivities in the past. He has included the following short description to explain the meaning of this artwork:

A piece made with acrylic paint, black ink and glitter on 24x40 inch cardboard paper that has to do with the renaissance that many HIV positive people have experienced after being diagnosed with HIV. In it you can see people from different gender orientations and different ethnic backgrounds coming from darkness and defeating the stigma of HIV. They do this by raising their hands to a light that represents hope despite the challenges they have to go through because of having the HIV virus within themselves. The black dots represent the HIV virus within them, but above all of them, their T-cells are growing as stars because of their desire to keep living.

This art piece was made at an art session led by Alberto Rangel at Clinica La Esperanza in San Francisco and it remains there as a donation.

Hi farid,

Very interesting picture indeed. I can feel what HIV is doing to you in your painting. But also your joy of living, your sensitivity, you warm personality and your optimism.
Thank you for sharing and creating this.
